Tono CP500 — Motorised Coplanar Mechanism
The Tono CP500 is a motorized coplanar cabinet mechanism rated to move a fully-loaded 500 kg (1,100 lb) bookcase, bar, or media wall — sliding it flush into the wall to reveal a hidden room behind. We make the mechanism; you build the cabinet around it. Available in three standard sizes or bespoke, and shipped worldwide.
Description
Motorized Coplanar Cabinet Mechanism — Rated to 500 kg (1,100 lb)
The CP500 is Tono’s heavy-load coplanar mechanism. It moves a fully-loaded cabinet out of the wall, then slides it aside, so the room behind appears. When it closes, the seam vanishes. And it moves up to 500 kg (1,100 lb) fully loaded, without the contents shifting.
We make the mechanism. You build the cabinet around it.
500 kg (1,100 lb) load · synchronized dual-motor · flush when closed · shipped worldwide
Overview
Every concealed door forces a compromise. A swing or pivot bookcase carries little weight and leaves a gap. A plain hidden door hides a room but adds no use. The CP500 removes that compromise, because the mechanism moves a cabinet that is genuinely full.
Remember the split, though: Tono supplies the mechanism, not the joinery. So your cabinet maker builds the cabinet, the finish, and the room — all to the CP500’s spec.

Sizes — standard and bespoke
The mechanism and the 500 kg load stay the same; the size is what you choose. Three standard tiers cover most jobs. Beyond them, we configure the CP500 to your wall.
| Tier | Model | Clear opening | Slide travel | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single | CP500-S | ~900 mm (35 in) | ~1.1 m (3.6 ft) | A single-person doorway |
| Wide | CP500-W | ~1500 mm (59 in) | ~1.7 m (5.6 ft) | Furniture passage / double-width |
| Grand | CP500-G | ~2400 mm (94 in) | ~2.6 m (8.5 ft) | A room-width reveal |
| Bespoke | CP500 Bespoke | up to ~3.0 m (10 ft) | up to ~3.0 m (10 ft) | Any wall, configured to spec |
Standard heights: 2400 / 2700 / 3000 mm (94 / 106 / 118 in). Standard depths: 300 / 400 / 600 mm (12 / 16 / 24 in). A spec reads simply, for example: CP500-W, 2700 mm high, 400 mm deep.
Build any cabinet around it
The CP500 is one mechanism with a fixed load and size limit. Within that, the design is yours.
For the front, build a bookcase, a backlit bar, a wine display, a media wall with vinyl, a mirror, or a lit display case. Behind it, hide a wine cellar, a dressing room, a lounge, a safe room, a home theater, a study, or a pantry. And any face works with any room — so a bookcase can hide a wine cellar, and a media wall can open onto a dressing room.
How the mechanism works
Two motors do the work, and they move in sync. First, the cabinet lifts out of the wall, just enough to clear the next panel. Then it glides along a hidden, heavy-duty track and stops flush to one side. To close, it reverses. Because it slides instead of swinging, it needs no space in front and shows no hinge. And if it meets resistance, it stops and reverses on its own.
What Tono supplies, and what you build
Tono supplies the CP500 mechanism — the synchronized motors, the track, and the controls — plus the load and size spec, technical drawings, and setup support.
You build everything you can see: the cabinet, its finish, and the room behind it. Your own cabinet maker or fit-out team does that work, simply following our spec.
How we work with you
The process is straightforward. First, you send us the cabinet size and weight and the opening you need. Then we confirm the configuration and load, and send drawings, CAD files, and load data. Next, your cabinet maker builds the cabinet to that spec. Finally, we support the drive setup and commissioning. We ship anywhere, so the same steps apply wherever you build.
Smart control and integration
The CP500 opens by wall keypad or wireless remote. It also integrates with your home-automation system, so you can fold it into wider scenes — for example, one command that opens the room and sets the lights. Where the project already runs a smart-home platform, the CP500 works alongside it.
Proof and documentation
A 500 kg (1,100 lb) rating is only as good as its proof. So each CP500 comes with load-test and cycle-test data, CAD drawings in metric and imperial, and a demonstration of a fully-loaded unit in motion. That way, specifiers and clients can see the capacity, the flush close, and the contents staying in place.
Frequently asked questions
What is the CP500? It is Tono’s motorized coplanar cabinet mechanism, rated to 500 kg (1,100 lb). It slides a fully-loaded cabinet flush into the wall to reveal a room behind it. The face is yours to design.
Does Tono build the cabinet? No. Tono supplies only the mechanism and its spec. Your cabinet maker, joiner, or fit-out team builds the cabinet, the finish, and the room.
How much weight does the CP500 carry? Up to 500 kg (1,100 lb), fully loaded, while the contents stay in place. That is well beyond standard coplanar hardware and the nearest motorized cabinet systems.
What sizes does it come in? Three standard tiers — CP500-S (~900 mm / 35 in opening), CP500-W (~1500 mm / 59 in), and CP500-G (~2400 mm / 94 in) — in standard heights and depths. CP500 Bespoke goes up to ~3.0 m (10 ft).
Can I build any cabinet design around it? Yes. The face and finish are open to any design. You simply build the cabinet to the CP500’s load and size spec.
Do you ship worldwide? Yes. We supply the CP500 to the trade in any country, with export documentation, dual-unit drawings, and clear international lead times.
Can it conceal a private room? Yes. When closed, the cabinet sits flush with the wall, so the room behind stays completely hidden.
What is the lead time? 4-5 weeks
