In-Wall Speaker Cable – 14 & 16 AWG CL2-Rated | TONO Pro CI
Tono Monochrome speaker cable
Speaker cables built for clean, full sound
Tono speaker cables carry the signal from your amplifier to your speakers with low resistance and solid shielding, so what reaches your ears stays clean and detailed. Whether you are wiring a home theatre or a custom in-wall install, the range gives you the right gauge and the right copper for the job.
How to choose the right speaker cable
A few things decide which speaker cable suits your system:
- Gauge (AWG). A lower AWG number means a thicker conductor. Thicker cable suits longer runs and lower-impedance speakers. For most home and in-wall runs, 14 to 16 AWG works well.
- Copper purity. Oxygen-free copper (OFC) keeps resistance low and holds detail over distance. Higher purity means less signal loss.
- Where it runs. To run cable inside a wall, use a CL2-rated cable that meets fire-safety code. A standard cable is not safe behind drywall.
- Termination. Bare wire, banana plugs, or spade connectors all work. Pick what your amplifier and speakers accept.

Speaker cable FAQs
What gauge speaker cable do I need?
For most rooms, 14 to 16 AWG is enough. Choose a thicker 12 to 14 AWG cable for long runs or low-impedance speakers, where a thinner cable would lose signal.
Can I run speaker cable inside a wall?
Only with a CL2-rated cable, like the Tono Pro CI Series. The CL2 rating means the cable meets fire-safety requirements for in-wall use.
Does oxygen-free copper make a difference?
OFC lowers resistance and helps hold detail over longer runs. The benefit grows with cable length, which is why the Monochrome cable uses 99.99% OFC.
Should I use banana plugs or bare wire?
Both work. Banana plugs make connections tidier and quicker to swap, while bare wire is simple and costs nothing extra.
